Fabio's Work

About Fabio
Fabio co-founded Bay Ink Tattoo with Rafaela Amaral in 2016 and specializes in black and gray realism and surrealism. With over 20 years of experience, Fabio is one of the most booked artists at Bay Ink. He has exceptional technical skills, loves working on large-scale projects, and has extreme attention to detail, using shading and texture to produce images that look incredibly lifelike on the skin. Fabio can recreate portraits, objects, and scenes with stunning accuracy. He likes surrealist tattoos because they are often designed to be thought-provoking and open to interpretation. Fabio is also a strong communicator, working closely with clients to understand their vision and bring it to life.
Black and grey realism, portraits and sleeves in San Diego
Fabio's portfolio is built around large black and grey realism: full and half sleeves, portraits and surreal compositions that connect several subjects on one arm or leg. The work on this page includes classical sculpture and Spartan helmets, a sea god with a trident, an astronaut, a cathedral dome, a realistic portrait of Albert Einstein, and surreal faces with moon phases and an exposed brain. For larger connected pieces, see tattoo sleeves in San Diego and Bay Ink's black and grey realism tattoo artists.
Planning a project with Fabio
Large projects start with a conversation about your references, the placement and how the piece will connect with any tattoos you already have. Send your idea, the placement and an approximate size through the tattoo request form, or book a consultation with Fabio. Deposits run $100 to $500 depending on the project and are credited toward your tattoo. Fabio works from the Bay Park studio at 2305 Morena Blvd.
